Philippine property giant Megaworld, through its hospitality arm Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, has announced a strategic partnership with Accor, one of the world’s leading hospitality groups. The collaboration aims to strengthen Megaworld’s portfolio of homegrown Filipino hotel brands by integrating Accor’s global expertise in operations, service standards, and technology systems.
This milestone partnership will see selected Megaworld properties align with Accor’s international standards, while gaining access to the group’s award-winning loyalty programme, ALL-Accor Live Limitless, allowing guests to earn points and enjoy exclusive perks.
Mercure Mactan Cebu to Lead the Charge
The Belmont Hotel Mactan will become the first property to transition under this agreement, rebranding as Mercure Mactan Cebu within the vibrant 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. The move marks the debut of Accor’s Mercure brand in the location, known for delivering locally inspired, midscale hospitality.
Leaders Emphasise Growth and Local Impact
Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, said: “Our collaboration with Accor underscores our shared vision to elevate hospitality through innovation, sustainability, and global expertise. Mercure Mactan Cebu will play a critical role in redefining tourism in the region and opening new opportunities for the local community.”
Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer, Asia for Accor, added: “This partnership reflects our long-term commitment to growth in Asia. With Cebu’s strategic location and rising demand from leisure and business travellers, Mercure Mactan Cebu is perfectly positioned to meet evolving market needs.”
A Rapidly Expanding Footprint
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts currently operates 13 hotels with around 7,000 rooms across the Philippines, including flagship properties in Metro Manila, Cebu, Tagaytay, and Boracay. The company plans to open seven more hotels in key destinations such as Palawan, Pampanga, Bacolod, and Iloilo, bringing the total to 20 properties and 9,000 rooms by 2028.
A Record-Setting Year
In 2024, Megaworld celebrated the opening of Grand Westside Hotel in Parañaque City, the Philippines’ largest hotel by room count with 1,530 keys like marking a pivotal milestone in the country’s hospitality landscape.
With this partnership, Megaworld strengthens its position as the leading operator of homegrown Filipino hotel brands, while Accor expands its footprint in one of Southeast Asia’s most promising tourism markets.
