InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has officially debuted in Hokkaido with the opening of InterContinental Sapporo, marking the city’s first international luxury hotel. This milestone expands the brand’s presence in Japan and reinforces its legacy of pioneering in culturally rich destinations.
Prime Location in Sapporo
Situated in the Nakajima Park area and just steps from the bustling Susukino entertainment district, InterContinental Sapporo occupies the 9th to 14th floors of the newly constructed Lilac Square complex. The hotel offers guests a gateway to Sapporo’s vibrant cultural scene, scenic landscapes, and winter sports attractions.
Sophisticated Accommodations
The hotel features 149 guestrooms, including 13 suites, with sweeping views of the city, park, and Toyohira River. The interior design blends residential luxury with the natural beauty of Hokkaido, incorporating earthy tones and textures inspired by the region’s landscapes. A greenery-filled lobby lounge, fireplace, and outdoor terrace on level 9 create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Culinary Experiences Rooted in Nature
InterContinental Sapporo offers three distinct dining venues, each inspired by Hokkaido’s culinary heritage:
- Sawaka, an omakase-style restaurant, presents a Chef’s Choice menu using techniques like charcoal grilling and low-temperature cooking to highlight local and global ingredients.
- AuBlanc, an all-day restaurant, serves everything from breakfast buffets to refined evening meals, along with a bakery.
- Norva Lounge & Bar features a fire lounge and forest lounge, offering traditional afternoon teas and inventive cocktails in a relaxed setting.
Wellness and Leisure Amenities
Guests can enjoy a 20-meter indoor heated pool with panoramic city views and a 24-hour fitness center, both located on level 9. These amenities are designed to complement the hotel.
Elevated Club InterContinental Experience
The top floor houses the Club InterContinental lounge, providing exclusive services such as private check-in, breakfast, evening drinks, and twilight refreshments. This serene space offers personalized luxury for discerning travellers.
Expanding InterContinental’s Global Portfolio
InterContinental Sapporo joins a global network of over 231 InterContinental hotels, including 10 in Japan. It complements IHG Hotels & Resorts’ growing luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which includes Six Senses, Kimpton, Vignette, and Hotel Indigo. The Regent brand is also set to debut in Japan by 2028.
With its debut in Hokkaido, InterContinental continues to redefine luxury travel in Japan, offering guests immersive cultural experiences and world-class hospitality in one of the country’s most captivating destinations.
