IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, has announced the signing of two new properties on the island of Crete – The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection, and Kimpton La Mer Crete. Both hotels, owned by Gelasakis Group, mark the debut of these prestigious brands in Greece and are set to open in 2025 and 2026, respectively. These additions further strengthen IHG’s presence on Crete, joining the InterContinental Crete, which launched in 2024.
New Luxury Experiences Await in Crete
The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection will be located in the heart of Chania city, close to the port and market. With 39 stylish guestrooms, a rooftop bar, an a la carte restaurant, and a wellness centre featuring a heated rooftop plunge pool, the hotel promises a unique and memorable stay. It is also committed to responsible travel, aligning with the ethos of the Vignette Collection brand.
Kimpton La Mer Crete, situated beachfront between picturesque Chania and historic Rethymno, will deliver a world-class luxury beach resort experience. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Chania Airport and offers 76 luxurious guestrooms, two distinctive dining venues, and a cutting-edge spa featuring an indoor seaside pool. Guests will enjoy direct access to Georgioupolis beach, overlooking the Gulf of Chania.

The Vignette Collection, IHG’s first collection brand, features distinctive hotels that celebrate individuality. IHG’s Growing Presence in Greece
IHG currently operates five hotels in Greece, including InterContinental Crete, Crowne Plaza Athens – City Centre, InterContinental Athenaeum Athens, Holiday Inn Athens – Airport, and Holiday Inn Thessaloniki.
