Kimpton, a leading brand within IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, has unveiled an exciting new partnership with Tiny Zaps, a pioneering tattoo studio specialising in miniature designs. This collaboration brings the concept of ‘tattourism’celebrating travel through meaningful tattoos—directly to guests staying at select Kimpton hotels.
Starting this April, monthly pop-up events will be hosted at five Kimpton properties across the United States. Guests aged 18 and over will have the opportunity to start their travels with complimentary tattoos, featuring unique and exclusive designs inspired by the local culture of each destination.
For instance, visitors to New York may opt for motifs that pay homage to the iconic Theatre District, whereas those in New Orleans can choose designs that reflect the culture of Bourbon Street. These events will continue until June, offering a creative and personal way to mark one’s journey.
Though the tradition of tattourism dates back centuries—when sailors inked themselves as a testament to their voyages—it has evolved into a modern trend combining travel, storytelling, and artistic self-expression. Today, Millennials and Gen Z travellers are at the forefront of this movement, favouring tattoos as lasting souvenirs over conventional mementos.
