STAAH’s SwiftBook Booking Engine has unveiled a redesigned datepicker interface, marking a thoughtful step forward in user experience design for hotel bookings. The update, part of SwiftBook’s ongoing commitment to simplicity and conversion optimisation, introduces two key enhancements aimed at making the booking journey cleaner, clearer, and faster, especially on mobile devices.
A Clutter-Free Calendar Experience
The new datepicker strips away visual noise by removing rates, restrictions, and promotional messages from the calendar view. Instead, users are presented with a minimalist interface where only sold-out dates are marked with a simple “x”. This change is particularly impactful for mobile users, where screen space is limited and clarity is crucial.
“When it comes to booking experiences, simplicity wins,” said a spokesperson from STAAH. “This redesign helps guests focus on what matters, selecting travel dates and completing their booking without unnecessary distractions.”
Hotels can activate the new design via the BE Themes module, selecting the updated layout from a dropdown menu. The streamlined calendar supports a wider range of booking behaviours, including guests browsing for general availability rather than rate-specific options.
Smarter Indicators for Sold-Out Dates
In addition to the visual refresh, SwiftBook has replaced the previous “SOLD” label with a more intuitive “x” symbol. Dates unavailable for arrival but still valid for departure are now half-shaded, with the “x” placed in the top right corner. This subtle cue helps reduce misinterpretation and guides users more accurately through the booking process.
Designed for Real-World Use Cases
Whether it’s a boutique resort with high mobile traffic or a city hotel managing back-to-back check-ins, the new datepicker adapts to diverse operational needs. Guests can now navigate availability with ease, while hoteliers benefit from increased booking efficiency and reduced user drop-off.
These enhancements align SwiftBook with global UX best practices and reinforce its position as a forward-thinking booking engine in the hospitality tech space.
