Radisson Hotel Group has unveiled its latest sustainability milestone with the opening of Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, one of the world’s first hotels to achieve Verified Net Zero status. Located in the heart of the Norwegian capital, the hotel combines bold design, community-driven hospitality, and rigorous environmental standards to redefine urban travel.
A Climate-Conscious Transformation
Formerly operating as Park Inn by Radisson, the property has undergone a complete transformation to meet the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, verified by independent certifier TÜV Rheinland. The hotel now operates on 100% renewable energy, eliminates Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and significantly reduces Scope 3 emissions through sustainable operations and supply chains.
“By transforming hotels in operation to Verified Net Zero status, we are demonstrating that Net Zero conversion hotels are not only possible, they are essential,” said Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer, Radisson Hotel Group.
Design Meets Sustainability
The hotel features 118 reimagined guest rooms, six flexible meeting spaces for up to 100 guests, and vibrant social areas that reflect Radisson RED’s signature playful twist on Scandinavian minimalism. Interiors are defined by rich wood textures, bold red and black accents, and tech-forward amenities. Guests can enjoy low-carbon menus curated with Swedish partner Klimato, bulk bathroom amenities, and zero-waste initiatives including food waste tracking and glass bottle usage.
Verified Net Zero in Action
Guests will experience the hotel’s sustainability efforts through:
- Renewable energy for heating, cooling, and cooking via Oslo’s district heating system
- Low-carbon dining with seasonal ingredients and reduced recipe footprints
- Zero-waste operations, including partnerships with Too Good To Go and Clean the World
- Plastic-free amenities, digital concierge tools, and in-room recycling bins
- Dripdrop umbrella reuse program, where each borrowed umbrella plants a tree
A Model for the Future
Radisson RED Oslo City Centre joins its Manchester counterpart as the second Verified Net Zero hotel in the group’s portfolio, aligning with Radisson Hotel Group’s commitment to reach Net Zero by 2050. With 80% of the buildings that must meet Net Zero targets already built, the Oslo property stands as a powerful example of retrofitting legacy architecture for a sustainable future.
