Radisson Hotel Group has introduced its first two Verified Net Zero hotels, achieving sustainability standards aligned with the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, years ahead of the 2040 target.
Located in Oslo and Manchester, these properties are eliminating Scope 1 & 2 emissions, significantly reducing Scope 3 emissions, and their remaining footprint through Nature-Based Solutions. Their Verified Net Zero status has been independently confirmed by TÜV Rheinland, setting a new standard for sustainable hospitality.
Leading the Way in Green Hospitality
Radisson Hotel Group has upgraded two properties to align with Net Zero standards:
- Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre (formerly Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre), now officially a Verified Net Zero Hotel as of 19 May 2025.
- Radisson RED Oslo City Centre (formerly Park Inn by Radisson Oslo City Centre), set to open as a Verified Net Zero Hotel in July 2025.
Sustainability Measures in Action
The Verified Net Zero program covers carbon footprint reductions across energy use, operations, and supply chains:
- 100% renewable energy through electrification and renewable sourcing for heating, cooling, hot water, cooking, and spa facilities.
- Minimising supply chain emissions, focusing on Food & Beverage and hotel-related transport.
- Carbon removal credits via Agreena, supporting 2,300+ farmers in regenerating over 4.5 million hectares of European farmland.
Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman at Radisson Hotel Group, stated: “We aim to achieve Net Zero by 2050, but 80% of the buildings that need to reach this goal already exist today. Through these conversions, we show that hotels can transition to high-performing, sustainable properties while making a positive impact on the planet.”
A Sustainable Stay Experience
Guests at Verified Net Zero hotels can expect:
- 100% renewable energy, eliminating fossil fuels for heating, cooling, and cooking.
- Low-carbon menus, curated in partnership with Klimato, ranking dishes based on carbon impact.
- Minimal waste operations, following Reduce, Reuse, Recycle principles, including:
- Kitchen food waste tracking with eSmiley.
- Community meal redistribution via Too Good to Go.
- Recycling partnerships with Nespresso and Clean the World.
- Plastic-free amenities and digital concierge services to reduce paper use.
The Future of Hospitality
Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, highlighted: “With our first two Verified Net Zero hotels, we are transforming the future of hospitality by integrating sustainability into energy, operations, and supply chains.”
