Onefam Hostels, one of Europe’s most awarded hostel chains, has successfully expanded to 17 properties across five countries, including Spain, Portugal, the UK, Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, thanks to its strategic partnership with Cloudbeds, a leading hospitality management platform.
Founded by Toni Subías, Onefam began with a single property in Barcelona, built around the idea that young travellers crave more than just a bed, they seek authentic experiences and community.
Today, the group operates hostels in major cities like Madrid, London, Prague, and Amsterdam, with over 120 employees delivering immersive day and night activities that foster connection and belonging.
Tackling Turnover with Tech
Onefam’s traveller-centric culture also presents operational challenges, particularly high staff turnover. With new hires joining frequently, traditional property management systems slowed onboarding and strained resources.
Cloudbeds transformed this dynamic by reducing staff training time to just three days, thanks to its intuitive interface and built-in support tools. “Learning Cloudbeds took me a whole day of practising at reception,” said Jona Ramos, Manager at Onefam Ramblas. “It’s a game-changer compared to systems that take weeks.”

Operating across borders meant navigating regulatory compliance, billing standards, and government integrations unique to each country. Cloudbeds’ integration marketplace allowed Onefam to automate these processes, from Portuguese billing to Spanish reporting, without burdening staff.
