MGallery Collection has officially unveiled its newest flagship property in the Philippines: South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao, MGallery Collection, a refined coastal retreat that reimagines tropical luxury through the lens of Boholano culture, artisanal design, and nature-infused wellness. Joining Admiral Hotel Manila in the brand’s growing Southeast Asian portfolio, this opening marks a significant milestone in Accor’s commitment to design-led hospitality rooted in local heritage.
A Coastal Haven Inspired by Myth and Nature
Located between the turquoise waters of the Bohol Sea and coconut groves, the resort offers guests front-row access to Panglao Island’s natural splendour. Located just ten minutes from Bohol-Panglao International Airport and adjacent to the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark, South Palms is a gateway to world-renowned dive sites, the iconic Chocolate Hills, and the habitat of the elusive Philippine tarsier.
The property’s design pays homage to the mythical sea guardian Sirenna, whose spirit is woven throughout the resort, from coral-inspired lobby pods to nightly oceanfront rituals. Led by an award-winning team including Patrick Keane (Enter Projects Asia), Patricia Ho (White Jacket), and Philip Pond (Atelier Pond), the architecture blends bioclimatic innovation with handcrafted Filipino artistry.
Artisanal Elegance and Soulful Interiors
South Palms features 188 guest rooms and 8 beachfront villas, each layered with natural textures like polished bamboo, coconut wood, and traditional Banig mats. Locally crafted furnishings, amenity boxes, and woven rugs reflect the island’s cultural richness and sustainable ethos. The villas, named after Filipino nature deities or “Diwatas,” offer curated turndown rituals, sunset picnics, and keepsakes that embody the essence of Bohol.
Culinary Storytelling Across Land and Sea
Dining at South Palms is a celebration of Bohol’s culinary heritage.
- Tiya’s House, the main restaurant, evokes an ancestral home serving Southeast Asian dishes.
- Manja offers Mediterranean favourites in a playful, family-friendly setting.
- UMA presents fresh seafood and tropical fruits in a market-style open-air experience.
- Sirenna Bar, a rustic-chic beachside lounge, showcases locally inspired cocktails like Sirenna’s Touch, made with Lambanog.
Guests can also enjoy bespoke dining experiences, including slow-roasted beach BBQs and cacao-paper-wrapped chocolate souvenirs crafted with local chocolatiers.
Wellness Rooted in Nature and Culture
The resort’s wellness philosophy is embodied in Lola’s Sanctuary, an open-air spa nestled in the garden canopy, offering botanical therapies and soulful body rituals. Guests can explore hydroponic gardens, herbal trails, and rice paddies, or participate in sunrise yoga and movement sessions designed to foster mindfulness and connection.
Signature cultural experiences include curated island tours, firelit drumming ceremonies, and sunset torch lighting rituals. Each evening concludes with hand-written tales of Boholano mythology and artisan chocolates placed in guest rooms. For younger guests, Aya’s Jungle, a nature-inspired kids’ club, offers a world of creative discovery.
“South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao is more than a destination, it’s a living story of Bohol’s spirit, crafted with care and designed to inspire,” said Danish Khan, General Manager of the resort.
