Marriott Bonvoy, the award-winning travel platform from Marriott International, has teamed up with McDonald’s China to launch a vibrant new campaign titled “Playful Getaways with Marriott Bonvoy”, designed to appeal to Gen Z travellers seeking short, joyful escapes. Running through January 30, 2026, the initiative spans 14 cities and introduces a series of immersive experiences that blend hospitality, nostalgia, and urban exploration.
A New Chapter in Weekend Travel
As younger generations embrace travel trends like micro-cations and weekend escapes, the campaign responds with a playful twist. Marriott Bonvoy has transformed select hotels, including Four Points by Sheraton, Fairfield by Marriott, and Moxy into themed destinations featuring McDonald’s character-inspired rooms, curated leisure activities, and dual-branded sightseeing buses.
“We’ve introduced McDonald’s-themed characters into hotel settings for the very first time,” said Betty Tian, Managing Vice President, Customer Group, Marriott International Greater China. “It’s about creating meaningful connections through relaxed, flexible, and fun experiences.”
Highlights of the Campaign
- Themed Guest Rooms: Four iconic McDonald’s characters, such as Ronald McDonald and Hamburglar, are featured in specially designed rooms, combining whimsical décor with cosy comfort.
- Dual-Branded Buses: In Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, guests can board “Playful Pop-Up” buses for weekend city tours, complete with stand-up comedy, concerts, and pet-friendly routes.
- Scratch & Win Game: From August 10 to September 2, Marriott Bonvoy members receive limited-edition scratch cards at participating hotels, with prizes ranging from vacation packages to exclusive merchandise.
- Beach Experience: At Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Golden Bay, guests can enjoy the first-ever dual-branded beach activation, including themed rooms and boat excursions to “McDonaldland.”

The campaign spans major urban centres including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenyang, Chengdu, and Haikou, turning Marriott Bonvoy hotels into hubs of playful discovery.
