IHG Hotels & Resorts has officially launched its LINE MiniApp in Japan, offering guests a streamlined way to book stays and manage their IHG One Rewards membership directly within the LINE app. The move marks a major milestone in IHG’s digital innovation strategy, tapping into one of Asia’s most widely used communication platforms.
With over 195 million monthly active users across Asia and more than 90% market penetration among Japanese users aged 13 to 79, LINE is deeply embedded in daily life. The new MiniApp allows users to search and book from IHG’s global portfolio of 6,600+ hotels, register for IHG One Rewards with a single click, and manage points from partner programmes like Rakuten Points and ANA Mileage Club.
“LINE is Japan’s most dominant digital platform,” said Abhijay Sandilya, CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan. “This launch allows us to reach Japanese consumers in a platform they know, trust, and spend time in.”
Key Features of the LINE MiniApp
- Direct hotel booking across IHG’s global portfolio
- One-click membership registration using LINE credentials
- Real-time access to IHG One Rewards account, including status, points, and redemptions
- Partner point integration with Rakuten and ANA Mileage Club
- Exclusive campaigns and limited-edition LINE stickers, available until 25 August
The launch follows IHG’s April 2024 enhancement of its official LINE account, which has since grown to over 1.2 million followers. The MiniApp is designed to deepen engagement, simplify travel planning, and offer a fully integrated loyalty experience, all within a familiar digital environment.
