Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced a landmark sales, marketing, and distribution partnership with the Clarks Group of Hotels, marking a significant moment in the evolution of two storied brands. Under this alliance, four iconic Clarks properties located in Agra, Jaipur, Khajuraho, and Lucknow, will be marketed under IHCL’s SeleQtions brand, a curated collection of hotels known for their distinctive character and legacy.
A Union of Heritage and Reach
The partnership brings together IHCL’s global distribution strength and Clarks’ deep-rooted heritage, creating a powerful platform to showcase India’s cultural richness through hospitality. Each of the four hotels is a landmark in its own right:
- Hotel Clarks Shiraz, Agra: A 236-key property blending Mughal-inspired architecture with modern luxury, offering views of the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
- Clarks Amer, Jaipur: A 216-key hotel set amidst lush greenery, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Rajasthan.
- Clarks Khajuraho: Located near UNESCO-listed temples, this 104-key hotel draws inspiration from the elegance of Khajuraho’s sculptures.
- Clarks Avadh, Lucknow: A 97-key property along the scenic Gomti River, echoing the refined elegance of Awadhi culture and situated near the Bara Imambara.
“This agreement will enhance our offering in India’s historic tourist circuits,” said Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL. “These hotels embody the cultural richness of their destinations and reflect our shared purpose of showcasing the best of Indian hospitality.”
Honouring Legacy, Embracing Innovation
The collaboration is more than a commercial arrangement, it’s a celebration of two legacies. IHCL, with its roots in the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel (est. 1903), and Clarks, founded 79 years ago, have both played pivotal roles in shaping India’s hospitality landscape.
“This is a commitment to creating a robust platform for the future of Indian tourism,” said Apurv Kumar and Rupak Gupta, Joint Managing Directors, Clarks Group of Hotels. “As India’s tourism industry enters a phase of accelerated growth, this partnership honours legacy while embracing innovation.”
A Strategic Step Forward
The partnership is expected to strengthen IHCL’s presence in key heritage destinations while supporting the expansion of the Clarks brand. It aligns with IHCL’s broader vision of unlocking India’s tourism potential through curated experiences, operational excellence, and brand synergy.
